The Soyuz space capsule that lifted off from Russia's Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Thursday should be visible briefly over northeast Ohio early Friday morning.

The capsule which lifted off at 4:42 p.m. EDT Thursday will appear over northeast Ohio twice Friday morning if skies are clear enough to see it, as it races to meet up with the International Space Station.

The first pass will occur at 5:08 a.m. and last two minutes. The capsule will appear 13 degrees above north on approach, reach a maximum elevation of 14 degrees and then exit at 12 degrees toward the north, northeast.

The second opportunity will be a little better and will come at 6:43 a.m. and last three minutes. On this approach, the capsule will appear at 10 degrees north, northwest and exit at 32 degrees toward the northeast at a maximum elevation of 33 degrees.
