BARBERTON -- Shawn Ford Jr, 18, charged in the sledgehammer murders of a New Franklin couple appeared in Barberton Municipal Court Friday morning.
A judge set a $2 million cash bond for him, appointed Jon Sinn as his attorney, and continued the hearing until 1 p.m. April 10.
Ford is charged with aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and grand theft.
Ford told police he used a sledgehammer to kill Jeffrey and Margaret Schobert, whose bodies were found by construction workers Tuesday in the bedroom of their Rex Lake Drive home in New Franklin.
Ford is the boyfriend of Chelsea Schobert, the victims' daughter. Ford was already being held in the Portage County Jail on unrelated charges of obstructing justice.
