CLEVELAND -- A stand-off with police has ended and three children are now safe.

Police say that the standoff happened at 11225 Mount Overlook Avenue.

Just before 5 a.m. a woman and her boyfriend were coming home from a bar when two men confronted them in the drive way.

One of the men pulled out a hand gun and beat the boyfriend with it. The men then took the couple into the home where three children were sleeping.

The suspects wanted money from the couple and began to search the home.

At 5 a.m., officers surrounded the home. That's when the couple was able to escape. Police say one of the robbers also got away.

Police called in the SWAT Unit because of the danger to the children inside the home. SWAT made entry to the home, safely removing the children and arresting the suspect.

Police say the suspect was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for evaluation after appearing high on drugs.

One officer from the Third District discharged his gun during the altercation. No one was hit due to him firing his weapon.

The man arrested is being held and is not cooperating. He has been arrested for aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

The standoff ended just after 7:30 a.m.

Police are looking for the other suspect. If you have any information you are asked to contact the Cleveland Division of Police at 216.623.5464.
