SHEFFIELD TOWNSHIP - Three children were seriously injured when the car they were in lost control and hit a church.
Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the accident happened Saturday night just after 6:30 p.m. on Broadway Avenue.
According to reports, Jose Guerra, 26, of Lorain, does not have a valid driver's license and was driving a Ford Fusion with five children and a teenager on board when the crash happened.
Troopers say the car hit a mailbox, two traffic signs and an embankment before crashing into Broadway Assembly Church.
The ages of the children inside the car range from 14 to six. Three children suffered serious injuries, two suffered minor injuries, and one walked way unharmed. None of the serious injuries appear to be life-threatening.
The church was significantly damaged and officials say parts of the building went into one of the classrooms inside.
There was a function being held at the time of the crash but, thankfully, no one inside was injured.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors in the crash.
