LAKE COUNTY -- Police have increased patrols at Perry High School after threats were discovered written on a bathroom wall.
Three threats, all written in pencil, were found over the last few days on the wall of a girls' bathroom.
Police say they are confident the threats are a hoax, but increased the security presence out of caution.
Here is a letter detailing the investigation from the Superintendent:
This message is to inform you of an investigation concerning threatening messages written in the girl's bathroom this week at Perry High School. On Tuesday, a message was found by our afternoon custodial crew in the girls' restroom written lightly in pencil stating, "Perry shooting will happen no one believes Help". This was immediately reported to the police and an investigation ensued.
On Wednesday, at 11:30 Chief Shank found another faint message written in pencil in the same bathroom stating, "A shooting is coming". Surveilliance efforts were increased. Today, at 9:00 a.m., a third message that stated, "A shooting will happen Thurs/Friday," was discovered in the girls' restroom by a staff member.
We appreciate the immediate response and investigative work of our Perry Police Department. The Chief of Police is confident that this is a hoax. However, as a precautionary measure, there will be an increased presence of police visible on campus tomorrow, 4/12/13. We will continue cooperating with the police investigation and will keep staff and community informed.
