Akron: I-77 North reopened after officer-involved accident

AKRON, Ohio -- Interstate 77 northbound near Wilbeth Road has reopened after a police-involved accident.

Lieutenant Rick Edwards tells Channel 3 that officers were not in the car at the time of the accident and were not injured. The officers were responding to another accident when a vehicle crashed into the back of their police car.

The police cruiser was heavily damaged, reports say.

There is no word on any injuries to the driver of the other car.
