SOLON -- A simple traffic stop on SOM Center Road near Solon Road turned into multiple drug charges for a Lorain couple.
Just before 5 a.m. Sunday, police stopped an SUV and a police K-9 alerted officers that there were drugs in the SUV. The female passenger tried to escape the vehicle as officers began the search by jumping out the back of the SUV.
The woman said she was Samantha Estremera and the officers asked her if she had any weapons or sharp items on her and she stated that she did not.
A female officer arrived to conduct a pat down of the female at which time she discovered a Gerber 3" knife with a serrated blade in Estremera's coat pocket.
Police found a purse in the rear passenger area of the SUV with an Ohio driver's license belonging to Samantha Estremera, and an Ohio ID belonging to Nichole Estremera, who was wanted for a felony warrant from Medina County.
When confronted, the woman admitted that she was Nichole, not Samantha.
Officers also discovered in the passenger area from where Estremera had been suspected marijuana, two glass pipes with residue, and a digital scale.
Estremera was charged with drug abuse, possession of drug paraphernalia, falsification and carrying a concealed weapon.
Medina County Sheriff's Department was also notified.
The driver of the SUV, Joseph Allen, 31, of Lorain, was charged with felony drug possession after suspected bath salts were discovered in the car under the radio in the dash.
Several pills, marijuana, a scale, pipes, a spoon, papers, and drug testing kits were found in the car as well. Additional charges are pending the results of testing done on the pills.
