CLEVELAND -- State Senator Shirley A. Smith forms an exploratory committee in a possible run for Cuyahoga County Executive.
Smith said she would begin the process of forming an exploratory committee for the potential candidacy and position of Cuyahoga County Executive.
Smith stated, "During the upcoming days and weeks I will talk to many of the city and county officials, clergy, elected officials, community based organizations and others to determine the feasibility of making a run for this office."
She further stated, "My legislative career and experience in the Ohio General Assembly has prepared me for this position. I am a committed public servant and understand that the cornerstone of government should serve its residents through health, human services and economic development."
She joins several other possible candidates after Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald announced that he is running for governor in 2014.
