CLEVELAND -- A man who was fatally shot while sitting in a vehicle Monday morning has been identified as 26-year-old Rafeal Carter of Eastlake.
Police say Carter was located in a gold Saturn with a gunshot wound to the abdomen when they responded to E. 123rd Street and Saywell Avenue around 10:37 a.m. Carter was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities say preliminary investigation reveals the victim was sitting in the vehicle in the 12300 block of Saywell Avenue when an unknown male approached and fired multiple shots through the passenger side window.
The suspect then reportedly entered a two-tone Buick Century and fled northbound.
Moments later, Carter crashed his vehicle at E. 123rd Street and Chesterfield Avenue when he attempted to drive away.
No suspects have been identified.
