PARMA -- Republic Services will pay the City of Parma just over $73,000 as an inconvenience credit due to a recent strike.
Republic workers went on strike earlier this month in a show of support for fellow workers involved in a labor dispute in Youngstown.
The company used replacement workers and says Parma was among the first to receive them. But still, the city says, some residents did not have their trash picked up in a timely manner.
"We appreciate everyone's patience during that time, including our City Council members who tried to help residents and also, of course, the residents themselves," Mayor Tim DeGeeter said. "We're all glad this is over, and we feel that the reimbursement is just."
