CENTERBURG, Ohio -- A Danville police officer was injured during a pursuit Sunday morning.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Mt. Vernon police tried to initiate a traffic stop when the vehicle fled from officers. During the ensuing pursuit, a Danville police officer attempted to place stop-sticks down to stop the suspect.
Troopers say that the suspect then struck the officer with his vehicle. The officer was transported to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in serious condition.
Troopers say a second pursuit began a short time later with a male suspect believed to be the suspect who struck the Danville officer.
According to troopers, the suspect crashed his vehicle into four vehicles in the town of Centerburg. There are no reported injuries from the crash and the suspect is in custody.
