CLEVELAND -- Charles Ramsey, the man who famously put down his Big Mac to help rescue three women held captive in the Seymour Avenue house, is getting complimentary McDonald's for the next year.
A spokeswoman for Oak Brook, Ill.-based McDonald's Corp. said Thursday that local franchisees in Charles Ramsey's neighborhood have offered him free food at their restaurants.
Ramsey had noted in a TV interview that he was eating McDonald's when he heard one woman screaming for help.
He also mentioned it in a 911 call. McDonald's had tweeted it would be in touch with Ramsey.
He was called a hero after helping the women break out of the house May 6.
McDonald's says it's made a $10,000 donation to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in the names of the women and Ramsey.
