SOLON -- After a man crashed the Ferrari that police say he'd stolen from a Solon car dealer, he called and asked that a second one be delivered to him at Shaker Square.
Police say that about 11 a.m. May 17, the owner of R & H Motor Car Group on Davis Industrial Drive reported that on May 16 he had received a fraudulent check from a customer for the purchase of a $197,971 Ferrari.
The owner further reported that the customer had called and requested purchasing an additional Ferrari for his brother, asking that it be delivered to Shaker Square.
Solon police went to Shaker Square and arrested Raymond C. Lamarca, 33, of Hudson. They found Lamarca highly intoxicated.
Officers learned that he had crashed the stolen Ferrari in Akron on May 17 while intoxicated and that Akron police had impounded that Ferrari.
That's when officers found a Mercedes key on Lamarca with a dealer information tag still attached. That dealership, located in Akron, was contacted and they indicated that Lamarca had purchased the Mercedes from them using a fraudulent check but they were able to recover the vehicle quickly, but he still had the key.
Solon police charged Lamarca with felony theft and took him to jail.
