MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS -- A man is facing grand theft charges after police say he was stopped driving a car stolen from the Captain America 2 set in Cleveland.
An officer in Middleburg Heights pulled the car over on I-71 just after midnight because it had no license plates.
The officer later determined the car was taken from the set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier which is currently filming in downtown.
The driver had no driving privileges in Ohio and was driving under suspension. Police say when asked to produce a license he handed the officer a Washington DC Health and Human Services ID car and the fake Washington DC license plate from the car.
The man is in the Middleburg Heights Jail.
According to a police report, the man told officers he had permission to drive the car. But a person from the production company told police that was not true.
Charges are pending.
The movie is set in Washington DC, so a number of vehicles in the film appear to be those from DC police.
