AKRON -- The U.S. Marshals Office Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that helps police identify a man that assaulted, then attempted to shoot, an Adult Parole Officer.

Shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday, the officer was attacked while in the stairwell of 1180 Rentar Lane at the Spring Hill Apartments.

The officer had just finished speaking with a resident on the fifth floor, when he was confronted by a man in the north stairwell.  The man suspect bumped into the officer as the officer was leaving.

The suspect then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the officer. The officer immediately grabbed onto the gun as the suspect pulled the trigger.

The gun clicked but did not fire.

The suspect pulled the gun away then ran down the stairwell. The SWAT team responded to the apartment complex and did a slow and methodical search of the entire six floor apartment building.

The suspect was not found.

The suspect is balck, with a stocky build, about 5'05" -5'08," with corn-row-style hair, wearing a black tank top shirt and black pants.
