LIBERTY TOWNSHIP -- Police were called Monday afternoon after a man came across a dead black bear under a tree in the front yard while he was cutting the grass.
Just after 3 p.m. Monday, police were called out to a Tanglewood Drive home in Liberty Township in Trumbull County near Youngstown.
They arrived and spoke to the resident's son. He said he had been at the house on Saturday and the bear wasn't there then.
He returned to cut the grass Monday afternoon and that's when he found the bear.
Police called the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and a wildlife officer responded.
Police and ODNR say there are no visible signs on the bear of injury or foul play and the ODNR officer took the bear to the ODNR Akron office for a necropsy to determine the cause of death.
