AKRON -- A jury has convicted an Akron man of his 6th drunk driving offense.
Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh says the jury convicted Samuel D. Hoffmeyer, 41, of one count of operating under the influence with a specification for having at least five drunk driving convictions in the last 20 years.
On September 25, police say Hoffmeyer crashed his truck into a guardrail at a gas station on West Waterloo Road. Officers at the station during the crash say they saw Hoffmeyer stagger from the truck and try to run away.
Police arrested Hoffmeyer after finding him in some near-by brush.
He is scheduled for sentencing on July 11.
