  • The Ohio High School Athletic Association Board of Directors approved the divisional breakdowns and regional alignments for the 2013 and 2014 football seasons today.

    Tables showing which of the seven divisions each football-playing Ohio high school will be in each of the next two seasons are linked at the bottom of this story. Regional assignments can be viewed by visiting http://www.ohsaa.org/sports/ft/boys/

    Division-specific information pertaining to football can be found below

    Division I

    - Schools with male enrollments of 608 or more
    - Two regions: 35 schools in northern region, 37 schools in        southern region
    - Regional qualifiers: 16 per region
    - Regional quarterfinals: No. 16 seed vs. No. 1 seed; No. 15 seed vs. No. 2 seed, etc.

    Division II

    - Schools with male enrollments between 403 and 607
    - Four regions: 27 schools per region
    - Regional qualifiers: 8 per region
    - Regional quarterfinals: No. 8 seed vs. No. 1 seed; No. 7 seed vs. No. 2 seed, etc.

    Division III

    - Schools with male enrollments between 281 and 402
    - Four regions: 27 schools per region
    - Regional qualifiers: 8 per region
    - Regional quarterfinals: No. 8 seed vs. No. 1 seed; No. 7 seed vs. No. 2 seed, etc.

    Division IV

    - Schools with male enrollments between 213 and 280
    - Four regions: 27 schools in three regions, 28 schools in one region
    - Regional qualifiers: 8 per region
    - Regional quarterfinals: No. 8 seed vs. No. 1 seed; No. 7 seed vs. No. 2 seed, etc.

    Division V

    - Schools with male enrollments between 156 and 212
    - Four regions: 27 schools per regions
    - Regional qualifiers: 8 per region
    - Regional quarterfinals: No. 8 seed vs. No. 1 seed; No. 7 seed vs. No. 2 seed, etc.

    Division VI

    - Schools with male enrollments between 112 and 155
    - Four regions: 26 schools in three regions, 27 schools in one region
    - Regional qualifiers: 8 per region
    - Regional quarterfinals: No. 8 seed vs. No. 1 seed; No. 7 seed vs. No. 2 seed, etc.

    Division VII

    - Schools with male enrollments off 111 and less
    - Four regions: 26 schools in three regions, 27 schools in one region
    - Regional qualifiers: 8 per region
    - Regional quarterfinals: No. 8 seed vs. No. 1 seed; No. 7 seed vs. No. 2 seed, etc.

    Playoff schedule set

    The OHSAA Board of Directors also approved the 2013 football playoff schedule format.

    The  Division II, Division III, Division IV and Division VI playoff games will be played on Friday nights with 7:30 p.m. start times.

    The Division I, Division V and Division VII playoff games will be played on Saturday nights with 7 p.m. start times.

    The title games will be played December 5-7 in Stark County. Game times will be announced the morning after the conclusion of the state semifinals.

    Of the divisions that play on Friday nights during the playoffs, one division will have its state championship game on Thursday, Dec. 5. That will be announced after the state semifinals.
