South Euclid: Beachwood officer shoots suspect

SOUTH EUCLID -- A domestic violence suspect was shot by a Beachwood police officer during a search Sunday morning.

Officers from the South Euclid, Lyndhurst, and Beachwood Police Departments were searching an apartment on Richmond Road in Lyndhurst for a suspect wanted on a domestic violence warrant. 

The domestic violence warrant was issued for an act of domestic violence that took place in South Euclid Saturday night. 

During the search, the suspect, who had been hiding in a bedroom, confronted a Beachwood police officer, who fired his duty weapon once, striking the suspect.

The suspect was taken into custody and taken to a medical facility. 

The suspect's wound was not life-threatening and he is currently in the custody of the South Euclid Police Department.
