PERRY TOWNSHIP -- The Lake County Sheriff's Office is looking for a black SUV that hit a man on a motorcycle and left the scene.
Sheriff's say the driver of the SUV ran a red light at State Route 84 and Madison Avenue/Vrooman Road around 6:53 p.m. Friday. They found a 59-year-old Painesville resident was hit while making a left turn.
The victim was waiting to turn from State Route 84 onto Madison Avenue. That's when the SUV ran the light and struck him, ejecting him from the motorcycle.
The SUV slowed momentarily before leaving, headed west on Madison Avenue.
The victim was taken to Tri-Point Hospital before being transported to MetroHealth Medical Center via LifeFlight. His condition is unknown at this time.
Sheriff's say the SUV is possibly a Chevy Equinox between the 2005-2009 model years. It was last seen heading north on Park Road near Hale Road by an eyewitness. The SUV's front end is damaged and lost part of its grill assembly at the scene.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Lake County Sheriff's Office at 440-350-5260.
