CLEVELAND -- After more than 20 years as president of Cuyahoga Community College, Friday was officially the last day on the job for Dr. Jerry Sue Thornton.
When Dr. Thornton came to Tri-C in 1992, the school had 23,000 students and 3 campuses. Now there are four campuses and more than 30,000 students.
WKYC's Russ Mitchell sat down with Dr. Thornton to talk about her legacy, the state of Cleveland and what it's been like wrapping up all those years as Tri-C's leader.
The school's new president, Alex Johnson, starts on Monday.
Dr. Thorntion says she is not retiring. She will have an office at Tri-C and will work with the school's foundation and will do work to help improve community colleges all over the country.
We certainly wish her the best.
