BAY VILLAGE -- A late-night trip to a park left three teens facing charges.

Police say they were flagged down by a 15-year-old boy shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday at Play In Bay to alert officers that his friend had hurt his knee while playing inside the closed park.

The victim, an 18-year-old male, was taken to the hospital for treatment.

But as officers spoke with the 15-year-old boy and another 19-year-old male at the scene, they learned the juvenile -- who did not have a driver's license -- had taken his mother's car without permission and picked up the two older teens in North Olmsted.

Police say the trio had been driving "around for a little while" before ending up at Play In Bay.

After placing both under arrest, authorities say there was a "distinct odor" of marijuana coming from the vehicle they had been driving. Upon searching, officers reportedly recovered drug paraphernalia inside.

The 19-year-old was also allegedly found with drug paraphernalia in his possession.

The 15-year-old boy will face charges at Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court. The two adults will face charges at Rocky River Municipal Court.
