CLEVELAND -- Doug Weiner's done a lot of good for Northeast Ohio serving in several different jobs.

He's been an assistant Cuyahoga County prosecutor, helped organize the important Fugitive Safe Surrender Program and played an important role with COSE, the Council of Smaller Enterprises.

Now Doug and his family are in need of help. And several groups are pulling together to assist them.

Doug suffered a traumatic brain injury while celebrating his 50th birthday on a Florida vacation last year.

He's been recovering in hospitals and rehabilitation centers in Florida and NE Ohio.

He's getting better but faces a difficult and expensive comeback.

COSE is spearheading a fundraising event Thursday, July 18th at the Lake County Captains Game.

A $50 donation buys a ticket and food and beverage voucher.

All the money raised goes to the Weiner family.

His wife Christina and three sons, Josh , Benjamin and Adam will be at the game.

Checks can be made out to Doug Weiner and sent to COSE, ATTN: Katie Stevenson, 1240 Huron Rd E, Cleveland Ohio  44115.

North Coast Community Homes is helping with needed improvements to their home.

The U.S. Marshal's Office and Cleveland Bar Association are also helping with the event.
