CLEVELAND -- An arrest warrant has been issued for a man after a standoff in Solon ended with an empty house.

The FBI says it determined that a home on Liberty Drive in Solon was empty around 11 a.m. The home had been surrounded since late Tuesday night when a man barricaded himself inside.

A federal arrest warrant has now been issued for Alex Spirikaitis for false credit institution entries.

Spirikaitis was the CEO of the Taupa Lithuanian Credit Union on E. 185th Street in Cleveland. Regulators closed the credit union this week said FBI Special Agent Vicki Anderson, after it, "had no prospect for restoring viable operations."

"It's a very large house so it took a lot of time to go through. Our tactical teams are very methodical," said Anderson of the search.

"There were indications by the family members...that he was inside," she said. "We're all disappointed. Everybody believed him to be in there."

Anderson said no one has seen the man for several days: could he be even further away?

"We hope not, we hope the family was telling us the truth and we'll continue to talk to people and see if we can get his location determined," she said.

Spirikaitis is described as 5'11", approximately 225 lbs, with green eyes and bald. He is known to wear a goatee. His facial hair may have changed.

Reward money is available for tips that lead to his arrest and prosecution. You can anonymously contact the Cleveland office of the FBI at 216-522-1400.

The credit union served more than 11-hundred members and had assets of more than $23 million.

Member deposits are federally insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund up to $250,000.

NCUA's Asset Management and Assistance Center will issue correspondence to individuals holding verified share accounts in the credit union within one week.

Members with additional questions about their insurance coverage may contact the center toll free at 877-715-0777 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Eastern. Individuals may also visit this website at any time for more information about their insurance coverage.

Taupa Lithuanian was chartered in 1984 to serve the Lithuanian community of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.
