EUCLID -- The Euclid Police Department continues to investigate a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred at 10:38 p.m. Saturday on State Route 2 eastbound near the Lloyd Road exit.

The victim has been identified as Kiara N. (Ortiz) Rodriguez, 19, of Cleveland. She was flown via LifeFlight from Lake West Hospital to Metrohealth Medical Center Saturday and died Monday morning.

Rodriguez had pulled her car onto the right berm to check for a flat tire. Rodriguez exited her car through the driver's side door. While she was next to the driver's side of her car, a passing eastbound vehicle struck her.

Prior to the accident, two passengers had exited Rodriguez's car and were standing on the right berm. Neither of those individuals were injured.

Rodriguez was initially taken to Lake West Hospital.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office is working with the Euclid Police Department to investigate Rodriguez's death.

The Euclid Police Department has a suspect -- a Willoughby resident, 65 -- in custody and formal charges are pending.
