ASHLAND -- A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in a crash Wednesday afternoon in Montgomery Township.

The Ashland Post of the Highway Patrol says the accident happened around 6:05 p.m. on state Route 511 near County Road 1600.

Troopers say the 47-year-old motorcyclist was riding a 1983 Honda Goldwing northbound when he struck the right side of a 2013 Ford Explorer.

Authorities say the driver of the Ford Explorer had failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn into a driveway.

The motorcyclist was taken by LifeFlight to Cleveland Metro Hospital where he is in critical condition. Troopers say he was not wearing a helmet at the time.

The driver of the Ford Explorer was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.

No further details were provided.
