Eighty-year-old Solon Kousma is a diehard Indians fan and season ticket holder who enjoys attending games with his family.
He missed Monday's, however, after he took a Tiger line drive to the face during batting practice.
He was sitting in right-center field, where he's caught several balls over the years but never anything like this, his family said.
He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he remains in the intensive care unit.
His family said he is doing well considering what he went through.
They expect him to be released in a couple days.Kousma, from Willard, is a tough cookie, they say. He's survived five-way bypass surgery and skin cancer.
He can't talk, his son says, but he imagines he would be laughing at the incident if he could.
His family says they can't wait to take him back for another game -- maybe this time with a glove and catcher's mask.
