CLEVELAND -- Police say two men are in custody following a shooting and standoff on the west side Monday night.
According to a police report, officers were called to the 3300 block of Walton Avenue for shots fired around 9:30 p.m. Monday night. When they arrived they found a group of people surrounding a man who was on the ground bleeding from a bullet wound to the stomach.
Neighbors told police the suspected shooters had fled the scene and entered a house next door.
Officers surrounded the house and called for a SWAT team. The two men inside the house surrendered and came out of the house with their hands up just before SWAT arrived. SWAT team members then made a sweep of the house to clear it. No additional people were found inside.
The two men who surrendered were taken into custody and booked on charges of felonious assault.
The victim is still hospitalized and had to undergo surgery for bullet wounds to the stomach and liver.
