WILLOUGHBY, Ohio -- A man with a temporary motorcycle license was thrown from his motorcycle during a crash Monday night in Willoughby, police said.

The crash was reported around 10:19 p.m. on Riverside Commons Drive, just east of Lost Nation Road.

The driver, Joseph Winters, 34, of Willoughby, was headed west on Riverside Commons Drive when he struck a high curb along the north side of the road.

Winters was thrown from the bike, landing alongside his motorcycle in the grass off that side of the road.

Two men in a truck passing by spotted Winters in the grass, stopped to help him and called 9-1-1.

He was taken to Lake West Medical Center and later flown to MetroHealth Medical Center. His condition is not available.

Winters was wearing a helmet, and investigators say drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a factor.

The Willoughby Police Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating the crash. Anyone with additional information about the crash is asked to call Willoughby Police as (440) 953-4212.
