MENTOR -- On Friday, police say a woman, 80, was scammed out of $3,000 while in the parking lot of Drug Mart at 8500 Mentor Avenue.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., police say she was approached by a white woman about 50-60 years old and a black woman about 45-50 years old.

She was told they found $100,000 in the parking lot but needed $3,000 to have an attorney check the money. They would then return her $3,000 and her share of the money.

She withdrew the money from her bank, handed it to them and never saw them again.

Police ask that everyone be aware of these "easy money" scams and inform elderly family and friends.
