LAKEWOOD -- Lakewood Police say a man is being held in the jail without bond in connection with the suspicious death of a woman found stuffed in a closet.

Police arrested the man in Maple Heights Thursday night on an arrest warrant. He is jailed pending an arraignment.

Officers found the victim's body inside an apartment at a building on Detroit Avenue on Thursday morning. The body was found in the closet.

The woman had not been seen by friends or family since August 20. The building manager contacted police on August 30. Officers found the apartment neat and orderly but did not locate the tenant.

A friend filed a missing persons report on September 4.  Police returned to the apartment building on Thursday as part of the investigation of that report and located the body.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner is working to make a positive identification of the woman.
