SALT LAKE CITY -- A 47-year-old Ohio woman is dead after falling off a cliff while canyoneering at Zion National Park.
Zion National Park officials say Cheri Hass slipped and fell about 100 feet from a steep cliff on Thursday.
She was on a popular canyoneering route known as "The Subway."
On the route, people must navigate boulders, ledges and waterfalls on the 7-9 mile hike.
It also requires people to wade through cold water in a creek. It is only open to people who get wilderness permits.
She is the second person to fall from a cliff in Zion National Park this week.
On Monday, an Arizona fell from near Behunin Canyon but survived.
Park officials say a helmet worn by 33-year-old Clark Proffitt likely saved his life.
