LYNDHURST -- Sharon Drozen tried to find health insurance on her own through the Internet. She became bombarded with calls and plans she just didn't have the time to sort through.

"It's ridiculously confusing and overwhelming because I think I know what I want, but there are so many options," Sharon says.

Then she learned about a new store that would do all the work for her. Just like you'd pay a flat fee to an accountant to do your taxes, Bernard Health rescues people confused over health insurance.

"One of the things that makes us different is our advisors are noncommissioned, so they don't have any financial incentive to sell insurance. Instead their goal is to help folks make sure they get it right," says Bernard Health spokesman Ryan McCostlin.

Sharon's adviser took her information and seven days later provided her with three plans that fit her needs and budget.  The cost for the service is $200 for an individual and $300 for a family.

"But on average we save our clients $2,000. We also have a guarantee that if someone isn't happy with the level of service they received or they don't think they got their money's worth, we just give them their money back without asking any questions," McCostlin says.

Sharon saved big dollars with a short term plan.

"Bernard Health came back with an even better plan, a lower premium than my group insurance but a higher deductible, but I also knew it was only for a couple months," Sharon says.

She signed on to become a "Bernie" member and pays a $20 monthly fee. When the Federal Exchange Market opens Oct. 1, Bernard Health will hunt down an even better deal for her.

"I figure the amount of money I saved honestly on my premium was significant enough to become that monthly member, and with me working seven jobs, they do the work for me so I don't have to worry about it," Sharon says.

Bernard Health is located at 5666 Mayfield Road in the Greens of Lyndhurst shopping center.  They're open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekends by appointment.
