Mentor: Teen charged with making school threat

MENTOR -- Police say a 17-year-old boy has been charged with inducing panic in connection with a threat made against Mentor High School on social media.

Mentor Police investigated after the teen posted a threatening comment on Facebook.  Police say they were informed of the comment on September 15. The actual comment had been posted on September 12.

Officers investigating the threatening comment identified the 17-year-old boy involved and brought him to the police station for questioning prior to the start of the school day on Monday.

After being charged with inducing panic, the teen was taken to the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police say the teen does not attend Mentor High School.
