AVON -- The wife of North Ridgeville's police chief was arrested Monday for shoplifting.
According to Avon police, Elaine Freeman, 42, was arrested about 11:30 a.m. at the Kohl's at Avon Commons.
Sgt. Kevin Collins said he did not know what she was attempting to take or a reason she might have done so.
She was taken into custody without incident, he said.
Freeman was also arrested for shoplifting in November, that time at the Target at the same shopping complex.
In both incidents she had her young child with her, police said.
Mike Freeman, the North Ridgeville chief, was reprimanded and ordered to undergo anger management following his wife's last arrest for an argument he had with Avon police.
Mike Freeman was not available for comment Tuesday night, and an officer in charge at the North Ridgeville Police Department didn't return a call seeking comment.
