CLEVELAND -- In an effort to attract new recruits to their Cleveland ad agency, one firm is making waves and apologies.
Brokaw Inc. published a series of ads in trade publications aimed at enticing up and comers in the ad industry to move to Cleveland.
One ad lays the words, "You're slightly more attractive here," over a photo of the Cleveland Rib Festival.
Another ad lays the phrase, "Trade in those skinny jeans for some jorts."
The firm declined an interview with Channel 3, but issued this statement:
"We know there's been some recent backlash to our Brokaw recruitment campaign, and we apologize if our ads were misinterpreted or taken literally. We love this city. Which is why we encourage you to please read the op-ed article we wrote about the thinking behind the campaign."
