AKRON -- Three Akron schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution this morning after a  store robbery.

Police say just after 8 a.m., two men wearing masks robbed the Firestone Park IGA at gunpoint. Employees of the store on Hammel Street said one of the armed men ordered workers to the ground while the second armed suspect jumped the counter and went into the store's office.

The men took an unknown amount of money before running off into the surrounding neighborhoods.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact Akron Police.

The three schools that went into lockdown as a precaution due to the robbery and fleeing suspects have since lifted the lockdown status.
