CLEVELAND -- An employee with the Cleveland Department of Public Works has died as a result of an accident earlier today.
According to the mayor's office, the 65-year-old man was involved in an accident at Archmere Park.
Cleveland Fire Department spokesman Larry Gray says the worker was cutting grass when he went over a six-foot embankment and into a pond.
Other workers pulled the man from the water and called 911.
The worker was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center.
The man had over 13 years' experience working with the city of Cleveland, according to the mayor's office.
Cleveland police are investigating the incident, and the mayor's office is not releasing the man's name.
"This is an extremely tragic accident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the victim's family, friends and co-workers," the mayor's office said in a news release.
