A low pressure system over the Great Basin pushed wet weather into several states on Thursday, while a ridge of high pressure continued to build over the Ohio Valley.

A cold front inched over the Pacific Northwest on Thursday, which caused light showers to occur along western Washington. A cool air mass also lingered over the southern half of the West Coast, which kept temperatures between 70 to 80 degrees in the southern California and Arizona deserts. Truckee Tahoe, California reported a low temperature of 19 degrees this morning.

The Great Basin and Rocky Mountains experienced wet weather on Thursday due to an area of low pressure over Utah. This system also caused strong winds to occur along western facing mountain slopes, as Monarch Pass, Colorado reported winds speeds of 63 mph. Mixed precipitation moved through the central Rockies throughout the morning and early afternoon, which inhibited further snow accumulations in the mountains.

The Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley experienced dry weather on Thursday as a ridge of high pressure hovered over the region. Meanwhile, showers and thunderstorms continued to pound into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast due to a low pressure system off of the coast of Virginia. Suffolk, Virginia reported a mid day total of 2.30 inches of rain, while Baltimore, Maryland reported a mid day total of 1.93 inches of rain. The Southeast avoided precipitation throughout Thursday, besides a few light showers that popped up over the southern tip of Florida.
