CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Division of Police is mourning the loss of one of its canine officers.
K9 Jack died on Oct. 4 while on duty due to a sudden illness.
The 7-year-old German shepherd was imported from the Czech Republic and was highly trained in both narcotics and patrol.
Jack spent his days with officer Reggie Beddard patrolling the streets of the city of Cleveland and assisting other police agencies throughout the county with building searches, narcotics detection and arrests. In one of Jack's biggest narcotics busts, he located 3,000 pounds of marijuana.
Jack will be honored in a private ceremony at the Cleveland Police Patrolman's Association hall.
