PENINSULA -- The Cuyahoga Valley National Park is reopen for business now that the government shutdown has ended.

The park says all facilities and trails are open.  This includes the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail.

"We are excited to be back at work and welcome visitors to Cuyahoga Valley National Park," said Acting Superintendent Paul Stoehr. "Autumn colors have peaked this week and now is a perfect time to experience nature's beauty in your national park."

The reopening is welcome news not just for the park but the surrounding businesses that rely on it.

This is a peak time for visitors because of the interest in the fall foliage.

The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad also getting back on track with the reopening of the park.

The train's fall foliage trips are big sellers. The railroad estimated it lost an estimated $12,000 to $15,000 per day during the shutdown.
