MENTOR -- Fire crews responded to Great Lakes Mall where a transformer caught fire outside a department store.
The fire department received a call for downed power lines around 1:55 p.m. Saturday. Crews arrived to find a large transformer on fire adjacent to Dilliards.
Firefighters sprayed the building to keep it cool while FirstEnergy crews cut power to the transformer. That's when they were able to extinguish the fire.
Great Lakes Mall was evacuated as a precaution.
Both Dilliards and Sears lost power during the fire.
No one was injured during the incident. However, one person was rescued after being trapped in a freight elevator.
FirstEnergy is on scene working to restore power at this time.
