This week temperatures will be cooling down, and we even have chances for snow flurries in the forecast, but what about for this winter? Will it be an extreme winter?
Well, according to Accuweather, a premier weather forecasting company in the United States, the 2013-2014 winter could bring wet weather along the West Coast, snowy weather and cold shots across the northern Rockies and Great Plains and above normal snowfall across the Great Lakes and severe weather from the Gulf states as far north as Ohio.
The Weather Channel, another premier weather company in the U.S., is calling for variable weather across Ohio and most of the country, with a late onset of cold weather across the Northeastern United States.
For Northeast Ohio's specific winter weather outlook, we turned to our local National Weather Service office. Gary Garnett, a local NWS employee, called for equal chances of above normal or below normal temperatures and precipitation for this winter.
