  • Think about it for a minute, which of your vendors is with you the longest on your wedding day? Not your dressmaker, florist, baker, limo driver, or DJ, but your photographer and videographer will be. Who better to inform of your wedding day plans since it is their job to capture what is going on? Here are a few tips for couples for better photography on your wedding day: 1) Most important, plan a detailed itinerary for your wedding day and distribute to everyone involved. Check with your photographer to see how long he or she will need to get the kind of shots you expect from them. Remember to plan in drive time and to allow more time for larger groups to get ready when planning your itinerary. 2) Plan for a rain back-up. Most locations do charge a nominal fee for using their facility. Consider it insurance for your photographic investment. If it is raining, you will not want to do pictures outside! 3) Provide photographer with complete addresses and directions to your wedding day locations. 4) Most professional photographers do not work from a list and through experience will take all of the obvious shots. However, please provide a list of anything out of the ordinary if you want to be sure to have it photographed. You will not remember such details on your wedding day so write them down beforehand. 5) Let your photographer know when your address, email, or phone numbers change. They will be need to be in contact with you for a while after your wedding day is over. 6) Meet with your photographer to let them know of your expectations and get to know each other a little better before the big day. An engagement session is a good way to get to know your photographer as well as loosen up for the camera so you are more comfortable on your wedding day. 7) Consider your photographer at the reception and please provide a seat and a meal. He or she has been working hard all day and deserves a short break too. 8) Choose a photographer with a good personality, one that you can have fun with and enjoy being around all day. The happier you are, the better your pictures will be.
