  • Imari Brooks was taken from her home on Libby Avenue in Maple Heights at about 5 a.m. Earlier in the day, her aunt, Candice Robertson, was kidnapped in Cleveland Heights. Police say 22-year-old James Bennett asked Robertson for a ride home but then kidnapped her, bound her hands with duct tape and put her in a basement. Robertson later managed to free herself and get out a window. She called her sister and Imari's mother, Aaeshah Brooks. Brooks went to pick up Robertson from Cleveland Heights, leaving Imari alone in the home with her two brothers. When Brooks returned, Imari was gone. A SWAT team later surrounded the Indian Hills apartment complex where Bennett was found and taken into custody. Bennett has a criminal history, but no record of kidnappings.
