CLEVELAND -- Cleveland police fired on a man they ended up arresting Tuesday in relation to a string of aggravated robberies.
According to police, Gino Green, 33, who is facing charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and felonious assault, was not injured by the gunfire.
About 4:30 p.m. officers went to the 4300 block of West 49th Street to attempt to locate a man who had robbed and assaulted an 82-year-old woman earlier in the day.
As officers approached the residence, a male fled from the side door, was pursued by officers and ended up back in the home's basement, according to police.
Officers saw Green pick up a handgun. When he refused orders to drop the weapon and raise his hands, two officers fired on him. He then surrendered and was arrested.
Investigation revealed that Green was just released Tuesday from the Cleveland city jail, following his arrest for breaking into cars.
Cleveland police are investigating the use of potentially deadly force.
