Cleveland Police | Man attacked in his own home

CLEVELAND -- Police are investigating a home invasion and burglary that happened at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday in the 18100 block of Euclid Avenue.

Fifth District officers received a radio assignment to respond to an apartment in the area of 18100 Euclid for loud arguing and shots fired.

Upon arrival, police were met by a man who stated that he was inside his apartment watching television with a woman when someone knocked at the door. He opened the door and three black men wearing masks burst inside the home.

The man said two of the men were armed with handguns. He said that the suspects began asking for money and pointing the guns at both he and the woman.

He told police he gave the men his cell phone and the woman gave them her wallet. One of the suspects attempted to place handcuffs on the man and that's when he began to yell for his neighbors for help and for police.

It was then one of the suspects hit him over the head with a gun, causing a laceration. The three men began to run out of the apartment and the man tried to follow them.

The man and another witness told police that one of the suspects turned and fired three shots in the direction of the man but missed.

The trio took a wallet, 2 cell phones and 2 credit cards and $35 in cash. The man declined an offer to be taken to the hospital.
