Cleveland Police release new crime statistics

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Police Department has released the city's most recent crime statistics.

The new report looked at the crime in the city from January 1, 2007 to March 15, 2014. The statistics show crime is down from 2007 to 2014.

However, the newest numbers reveal the homicide rate was higher this year than last year. So far in 2014, the city has investigated 19 suspected homicides.

The number of rape investigations have decreased since last year from 110 to 91.

Also on the decline from 2013 to 2014 are robberies, felonious assault, and burglaries.
