Suspect arrested in teen's Mr. Hero murder

Oct. 16, 2016: A man has been arrested in connection with the weekend murder of a 15-year-old boy at a Mr. Hero in Cleveland Heights.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- A man has been arrested in connection with the deadly Mr. Hero robbery and shooting that took the life of a 15-year-old boy.

Authorities say the suspect was captured Sunday evening after he was spotted at a Dollar General store at Lee and East Overlook. When approached by officers, the suspect fled only to be detained a short time later.

It was just before 8 p.m. Friday when police were alerted to the shooting inside Mr. Hero on South Taylor Road.

The victim, 15-year-old Sunny Patel, had been shot in the head. He was pronounced dead at University Hospitals. The suspect then took money from the cash register and ran out of the store.

Sunny was a student in the Mayfield City Schools.
