SOLON -- The Solon school board has appointed resident John Heckman over 10 other applicants during a special meeting Thursday afternoon.
He replaces board member Dorothy Seibert, a longtime board member who resigned unexpectedly several weeks ago.
Heckman and several of the applicants ran for the school board in 2011, including former Solon Mayor Bob Paulson.
Heckman is a CPA who is VP of finance for Kirtland Capital Partners in Beachwood, and he and his wife Lisa have two sons in Solon schools.
